It’s been a while since I’ve read a historical romance, but I don’t remember them being this hot & steamy! Whew!
I enjoyed A Warrior’s Conquest. I cut my teeth on historical romance back in my teens oh so many years ago & Elle James and Delilah Devlin reminded me why I enjoyed them in the first place.
I love the ‘fish out of water’ time travel romances; especially when a strong, independent woman is put in a time period where women were considered second class citizens. It’s always interesting to see how an author has them handle the adjustment without ending up getting burned as a witch. James and Devlin did a great job putting Jacq in situations that frustrated her, but also let her shine. They made her strong and vulnerable at the same time.
Rufus was the perfect knight-in-shining-armor hero. He was probably much more patient with Jacq than was realistic, but…romance.
I loved the way they managed to wrap up that little piece of the puzzle at the end. I don’t want to give it away, because it’s my favorite part of the story.
A Warrior’s Conquest is an enjoyable, steamy historical with enough facts to stay true to the time period but not so much that it feels like a history lesson. Fans of historical will lose themselves in the journey of Rufus and Jacq.
